Career Week, held from December 11 to 15 at the Lycée Français René Descartes, played a crucial role in preparing our students to make choices for their future. At the heart of the event, a series of workshops, presentations and visits were carefully designed to guide our students in their reflection on the different academic and professional paths open to them.

Career Week kicked off with hands-on workshops on Monday, including CV writing by Mathéo and Camille. Presentations from Sciences PO Grenoble, ISCOM École de communication and ESCE École supérieure du commerce extérieur enabled students to explore various careers and understand the importance of early orientation. Tuesday focused on specialties for 2nd graders, with presentations from AUPP and KONGCHAK Pictures. Resume-writing workshops and presentations by prestigious institutions helped students make the right choices. The presentation of specialties for 2nde students continued on Wednesday, focusing on life sciences and biomedical sciences, as well as the opportunities offered by IUTs. Thursday included a visit to the RULE and CV-writing workshops, followed by an information session for Terminale students. The week ended on Friday with a focus on healthcare careers, film and audiovisual training with 3IS Éducation, architecture studies with ENSA, and literary preparatory classes with Lycée Balzac Paris.

Guidance plays an essential role in our students’ academic lives. This intensive week demonstrated that choosing a path after high school is a crucial step, and that making informed decisions now will greatly contribute to their future success. These events aim to inspire, guide and equip our students to confidently embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. The highlight of Career Week at the Lycée Français René Descartes in Phnom Penh was undoubtedly the Employment Forum held on Thursday. This event offered a dynamic platform where students, from 3ème to terminale, had the unique opportunity to interact directly with professionals and representatives of various institutions. From local businesses to renowned educational institutions, the forum brought together a variety of exhibitors offering insights into potential careers and academic opportunities. Students had the opportunity to explore different industries, ask pertinent questions and gather useful advice for their future. This career forum not only broadened their horizons on career choices, but also strengthened their understanding of the professional world by connecting them directly to key players in various sectors. This event embodies LFRD’s ongoing commitment to preparing its students to make informed decisions and thrive in their future career aspirations.

Today’s parent-teacher meeting marked the end of another Orientation Week. The importance of orientation choices in ninth grade and high school was crucial, shaping students’ academic and career paths. These delicate choices required in-depth reflection, taking into account individual passions, skills and aspirations.

In this process, meetings with schools and professionals proved to be a decisive means of making these choices. The LFRD is committed to offering its students a window on the professional world, putting them in contact with qualified speakers, school representatives and industry professionals. These enriching encounters enabled students to gain a better understanding of the different courses of study, explore their areas of interest, and receive sound advice to guide their academic careers in the right direction.

Many thanks to the entire Student Life team, the AEDs and the dynamic duo Camille and Mathéo, for their involvement. This week was a success thanks to them. Special thanks go to the maintenance team for their impeccable installation of the forum and refectory, facilitating the presentation of specialities.
