EDUCATION ASSISTANT POSITION

The Lycée Français René Descartes in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, is recruiting an Educational Assistant.

The educational assistant works in the school life department.

Under the authority of the Principal Education Counselor, the Education Assistant contributes to school life by providing guidance, supervision and educational support for students, both within the school and at the boarding school.

Main activities

Greets the public and users of the school life service.
He/she controls entry to and exit from the school / boarding school and student movements within the school / boarding school.
He/she takes part in setting up, supervising and leading cultural, artistic, social and sporting activities.
He/she takes part in school outings and trips.
He/she supervises pupils during school time (study rooms, homework, detention, exams, canteen) and contributes to pedagogical support by helping pupils with their personal work.
He/she contributes to the school’s educational policy by taking part in the training of class delegates and participating in the Conseil pour la Vie collégienne et lycéenne.
He/she ensures compliance with school and boarding rules, and identifies, prevents and reports on difficulties or tensions between students.
He/she carries out administrative tasks related to school life, in particular managing absences, late arrivals and relations with parents.
He/she helps organize examinations.
He/she informs and advises students, both individually and collectively.
He/she acts as interpreter for families who do not speak French.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree level, ideally with experience in a similar position or in working with teenagers.
  • Ability to work in French and English or Khmer.

Conditions

  • Full-time local law contract (42 hours per week) for a fixed term until August 31, 2025, which may then be renewed or transformed into a permanent contract.
  • Base salary commensurate with experience and qualifications, based on the establishment’s salary scale.
  • Health coverage for the employee and his/her dependents.

Starting date: end of August 2024.
